Tommy Varden Ltd was established in Tuam by Tommy Varden in 1973 supplying glassware and bar equipment to the bars and hotels of the West of Ireland. Glass-washers and icemakers were big sellers in the early days and Tommy quickly established a reputation for quality equipment and excellent service.
Tommy was responsible for introducing many new lines of equipment to the West of Ireland and over the years he made many trips to Europe seeking the latest developments in equipment for the hospitality industry. Today our showroom in Galway hosts one of the most extensive ranges of catering equipment and catering supplies in the country.
From the Company’s inception Tommy was insistent on providing an after sales service which is second to none and it is this attention to service which guarantees that our valued customers return year after year.
In the mid 1980’s Tommy Varden was one of the first business names to have his name on an inter-county jersey in Ireland. Through his love of gaelic games Tommy was honoured and delighted to be in a position to sponsor the Galway senior football team and the county senior football championship. This sponsorship happily continued till January 2008 and during his term as team sponsor Tommy was ecstatic to see his native county win the coveted Sam Maguire on two occasions.
In recent years Tommy has taken more of a back seat in the Company. His family have always been involved in the business and his son Vincent now runs the business along with his sister Marguerite and his son Tommy Jnr. Now that a third generation has started in the business we look forward to serving the catering industry in Ireland for years to come.
